Jaguar XJ Series Saloons

This illustrated book by Jaguar expert Mark Sutherland offers a detailed exploration of the Jaguar XJ saloons, spanning all three series.
The Series 1, launched in 1968, marked the culmination of an extensive development process and was the last Jaguar designed under Sir William Lyons' direct involvement. Known for its striking design, impressive performance, and competitive pricing, it set a new standard for luxury cars.
The Series 2 introduced a longer wheelbase and included the rare XJC Coupé, a model highly prized by collectors.
The Series 3, produced with input from the renowned design house Pininfarina, blended tradition with modernity in a timelessly elegant form. It is often considered the pinnacle of the XJ line and remained in production for an impressive fourteen years.

Drawing on Sutherland's expertise as the Jaguar Drivers Club XJ specialist, the book incorporates insightful commentary, owners' perspectives, and rare photographs. This volume is an essential resource for enthusiasts and collectors, capturing the legacy of one of Britain's most iconic luxury car series.

Lyons' Jaguar XJ

On September 26, 1968, Jaguar introduced the XJ, the successor to all previous Jaguar limousines. It was the last model primarily designed by the company's founder, Sir William Lyons. At the time, the XJ represented the pinnacle of what was technically possible in mass production and was repeatedly voted Car of the Year.

For a long time, the XJ lived in the shadow of iconic models like the E-Type, XK, and Mark II. Today, however, it is gaining the recognition it deserves. Once affordable in poor condition, these vehicles are now sought-after collector's items, especially the Coupés and the first series models with six- or twelve-cylinder engines, in Daimler or Vanden Plas variants.

Heiner Stertkamp's book is an entirely new creation, not a translation of previous XJ books. It corrects errors in earlier publications and impresses with attention to detail and precision. It is an intriguing read for XJ enthusiasts and an essential resource for classic car owners or restorers.
