The Citroën 2CV was originally designed to provide affordable transport for rural France. Over more than 40 years of production, it became much more.

Citroën 2CV: Der Döschwo in der Schweiz

The Geneva Citroën branch is responsible for imports into the Swiss Confederation and starts selling 2CVs in 1952. This makes the Swiss, along with the Dutch, the first outside France to be able to buy 2CVs.
But while the beginnings in the Netherlands are rather hesitant, and elsewhere you even have to wait many years for a new 2CV, the 2CV soon finds a loyal following in Switzerland.

The collaboration between the Swiss and the headquarters in Paris and Brussels is at times so successful that Geneva becomes a kind of think tank for Citroën when it comes to 2CVs: Together with the Belgian assembly plant, they develop a number of independent model variants that later become successful in other markets and play a decisive role in the 2CV being built for 42 years. Did you know, for example, to thank the Swiss to have the 600 cc engine in the 2CV?

The fact that the history of the 2CV in Switzerland is now being published in book form for the first time is thanks to author Räto Graf, who - himself a passionate 2CV driver - discovered a few years ago that almost nothing had been recorded about this part of the duck's history. He then spent years collecting material, spoke to contemporary witnesses and decided to write a book about the Döschwo in Switzerland.

And so the new publication from Edition Garage 2CV contains much that has never been written down or published before. Around 300 mostly unpublished illustrations make the book a comprehensive treatise on the 2CV in Switzerland.
