Edsel Ford and E.T.Gregorie - The Remarkable Design Team and Their Classic Fords of the 1930s and 1940s
The Car that dares to ask 'Why?', some ads touted, referring to why a big car could also be so economical. The early Mercury was a good-sized car and with its up-tp-20 mpg performance, by 1942 had earned an image of being a fine performer in miles-per-hour as well as miles-per-gallon. The '49-'51 Mercurys became very popular with customizers and hot rodders.Of course, finding James Dean behind the wheel of one of these cars in Rebel Without a Cause helped ensure its cult status for an entire generation.
The large, archival photographs in this book illustrate the fascinating early life of the infamous Mercury, a car with an image synonymous to the fleet-footed messenger of the gods that shared its name.

In 1945 Henry Ford II and designer E.T. Gergorie got together and come up with the "Sportsman". A woodie convertible that they thought might perk up the warmed over 1942s that would become the 1946 models. A prototype was built in October 1945 and was given a green light for full production. Sales were meager and production only lasted two years, but the "Sportsman" left an indelible mark on post World War II auto history. This book gives you a close-up look at both the Ford and Mercury "Sportsman".
The Complete Book of Classic Ford and Mercury Muscle Cars 1961-1973
Though the Mustang remains Ford's most famous muscle car, the company had been building muscle cars since it introduced the sleek Fairlane and Galaxie models with optional 390 cubic-inch big-block V-8 engines in 1961. These cars were part of Ford's Total Performance program, which tested cars in the crucible of racing at drag strips, oval circuits, European rally events, and road courses, resulting in legendary muscle cars like the Shelby Mustang, Boss 302 and 429 Mustangs, Mercury Cougar, Cyclone GT, and Spoiler.
"The Complete Book of Classic Ford and Mercury Muscle Cars" covers all of Ford Motor Company's high-performance muscle cars from the early 1960s to 1973. It's the bible of muscle every disciple of Ford performance needs.
