Más de un millón de vehiculos fabricados en más de medio siglo de historia. A mediados de la década de los cincuenta del Siglo XX, fue fundada Metalúrgica de Santa Ana, que a partir de 1958, sería responsable de la fabricación del mítico Land Rover Santana.
En la década de los 80, se inició la producción del popular Suzuki Santana, tras el acuerdo con la fábrica Japonesa, que años más tarde adquiriría la empresa andaluza.
La dinámica negativa de inicios de los noventa llevó a Santana a estar al borde de la desaparición en 1994, donde la administración pública llegó para rescatar los miles de puestos de trabajo linarenses.

Los éxitos iniciales de la gestión pública, no tardaron en girar, y dar lugar a una década de pérdida de relevancia en el mundo del automóvil que culmino con el cierre de la factoría en 2011.
