Trains - Thuringia: Books - Rail Routes and Stations
Illustrated books on the trains, rail routes and stations in the German State of Thuringia.
Stillgelegt! - Das Nebenbahnsterben in Thüringen 1994 bis 2018
This volume of the popular EK series "Eisenbahn-Bildarchiv" is dedicated, by popular request, to the branch lines in Thuringia that have been closed since the privatization of the railway. In addition to the numerous routes that have been closed or already dismantled as a result of the cancellation of local rail passenger transport by the state, those routes that only served freight transport and have now also been forgotten are also covered.
An overview chapter provides information on the great loss of the once numerous branch lines in the Free State since 1994, and thus describes a historic turning point in rail traffic in the "Green Heart of Germany" within a quarter of a century. As usual, excellent pictures by numerous photographers recall the many branch lines that no longer exist today. The book is thus a chronicle of the former diversity of rail traffic in the region. It shows railway facilities, operating situations and vehicles that have long since disappeared from the tracks.
