"So wird's gemacht" German car and van service and repair manuals
The German repair manuals from the series "So wird's gemacht" (It's done like that) describe in a very clear and understandable way how your car functions and how it can be maintained in the best possible way.
These Delius Klasing publications provide much more information than the owner's handbook, supplied by the manufacturer with each new car. They are mainly intended for the handy DIY mechanic.
For each volume in this series, a car is completely disassembled and then reassembled, if possible without the use of special tools. At the same time the various repairs and maintenance works are photographed in detail.
Hundreds of photos and drawings make it easy to follow the short step-by-step instructions. All adjustment data are arranged in clear tables.
The "So wird's gemacht" series started in 1972 with a maintenance and repair manual for the VW Passat. Since then, Dr. Rüdiger Etzold and his team realized more than 150 volumes, of which more than 7 million copies are sold.
In 2018, the publisher stopped producing its own books in this series. Starting from volume 159 the "So wird's gemacht" books are now German editions of the well-known British Haynes repair manuals (see Haynes Owners Workshop Manuals).
Publisher: Delius Klasing Verlag GmbH, Bielefeld (D)
Size: 22 x 15.5 cm (8.6 x 6.1 in), paperback
Language: These books are only available in German.
Automatic transmissions and modern gearboxes: Because special tools and adjustment equipment are required, the overhaul of automatic transmissions and modern gearboxes (specialist work!) is not covered in these books, but they usually provide instructions for replacing the ATF fluid and adjusting the controls.
Click here for specific books about automatic transmissions.
Wiring diagrams: Books from the series "So wird's gemacht" contain some wiring diagrams. For older cars these cover the complete electrical system, but for modern cars with their complicated electronics, only the most important circuits are shown (fuses, engine, lights, etc.).
What's Inside these Books?
These books comprehensively cover maintenance and repairs of the engine, lubrication system, cooling system, fuel system, filters, exhaust, suspension, steering system, brake master cylinder and brakes, electrical system (including windscreen wipers and lights), interior and body.
