Using FAHR as an example, the author impressively shows how companies were massively influenced and restricted in the development and production of their products by state intervention in a planned economy and ultimately by the war. This study is supplemented by the beginnings of tractor production at FAHR from 1938 and with a wealth of previously unpublished illustrations.
