Erlebnis Chur-Arosa-Bahn - Streifzug durch das Schanfigg

El valle de Schanfigg, rodeado de altas montañas, ha estado ligado a la agricultura durante casi 2.000 años. Los pintorescos pueblos en la parte alta del valle son algunos de los asentamientos walser más antiguos del cantón de los Grisones.
Tras largos debates sobre el trazado ferroviario, el 15 de julio de 1911 se fundó la Compañía del Ferrocarril Chur-Arosa. La construcción de la línea, de aproximadamente 26 kilómetros, comenzó el 1 de agosto de 1912 y, tras solo dos años, el ferrocarril fue inaugurado el 12 de diciembre de 1914. Numerosas imágenes históricas documentan la compleja construcción en un terreno difícil, mientras que impresionantes fotografías en color muestran la ruta desde Chur hasta Arosa en medio de un paisaje excepcional.
En el siglo XIX, los viajeros más aventureros llegaban a Arosa a pie. La construcción de la carretera postal en 1890 y la fama del aire puro de montaña transformaron el antiguo pueblo agrícola en un elegante balneario. En lujosos sanatorios, visitantes de toda Europa buscaban curación. Pronto surgió la idea de construir un ferrocarril hasta Arosa.

The Rhätische Bahn is undoubtedly one of the most famous railways in Europe. It even found its way into world literature in Thomas Mann's "The Magic Mountain".

The RhB has an extensive meter-gauge narrow-gauge network with a total length of 384 kilometers. The most famous routes include the Albula and Bernina lines, both of which were added to the Unesco World Heritage list on July 7, 2008.

The meter-gauge Rhaetian Railway (RhB), also known as the "State Railway of the Canton of Graubünden", operates a 384 km long network of routes on which well-known express trains such as the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express run. These routes connect renowned winter sports resorts such as St. Moritz, Arosa and Davos with the canton's capital Chur.
