Pininfarina - History of a Legend / Storia di un mito
In 1930, Giovanni Battista 'Pinin' Farina received financial support from his widowed and childless aunt, enabling him to establish 'Carrozzeria Pinin Farina.' Known for his exceptional skills honed at his brother's body shop, Pinin quickly gained renown for his creativity and personality.
With a spirit reminiscent of great Renaissance artists, Pinin Farina began shaping Italian style in the 1930s, leaving a lasting mark on the automotive world. A significant milestone was the post-war creation of the Cisitalia 202 Berlinetta, a design so influential it earned a place at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Throughout its history, Pininfarina prioritized style and taste over financial gain, producing over 600 cars in 80 years without compromising quality. Renowned for collaborating with various brands, Pininfarina's portfolio includes iconic models like the Lancia Aurelia B20, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, and Fiat 124 Spider.
Notably, Pininfarina's partnership with Ferrari resulted in over 160 models, often crafted alongside Sergio Scaglietti's Modena-based body shop. Among these, four special models were exclusively created for Gianni Agnelli, showcasing the company's prestige and craftsmanship.
This book describes Pininfarina's history and contains photos of many of the creations of this Italian company.
