Jaguar XJ Series Saloons
NEW
This illustrated book by Jaguar expert Mark Sutherland offers a detailed exploration of the Jaguar XJ saloons, spanning all three series.
The Series 1, launched in 1968, marked the culmination of an extensive development process and was the last Jaguar designed under Sir William Lyons' direct involvement. Known for its striking design, impressive performance, and competitive pricing, it set a new standard for luxury cars.
The Series 2 introduced a longer wheelbase and included the rare XJC Coupé, a model highly prized by collectors.
The Series 3, produced with input from the renowned design house Pininfarina, blended tradition with modernity in a timelessly elegant form. It is often considered the pinnacle of the XJ line and remained in production for an impressive fourteen years.
Drawing on Sutherland's expertise as the Jaguar Drivers Club XJ specialist, the book incorporates insightful commentary, owners' perspectives, and rare photographs. This volume is an essential resource for enthusiasts and collectors, capturing the legacy of one of Britain's most iconic luxury car series.

Lyons' Jaguar XJ
On September 26 1968, Jaguar introduced the XJ, the successor to all Jaguar limousines built to date. This was also the last model to be designed by company founder Sir William Lyons. At the time of its release, the XJ represented the ultimate in what was technically feasible in mass production and was voted Car of the Year several times in a row.
For a long time, the Jaguar, which Lyons called the most perfect, lived in the shadows behind the icons of the scene, the E-Type, XK or Mark II. But the tide is slowly turning and the XJ is being put in the light it deserves. The luxury vehicles that were once available cheaply in a "worn out" condition have long since become collector's items worthy of restoration. Above all, the coupes and the first series as six or twelve-cylinder, as Daimler or Vanden Plas.
In contrast to the few XJ books that have been published in German so far, Heiner Stertkamp's book is not a translation, but a completely new creation that clears up many of the inconsistencies in previous publications and convinces with its attention to detail and precision.
The book is therefore an interesting read for the XJ fan and is also the ideal source of information for classic car fans who own one of the English cats or even want to restore one.
