Founded in 1935 as a small English sidecar workshop, Jaguar has long been one of the most exciting automotive brands. Jaguar, every model since 1935, pays tribute to a heritage of some of the most sublime sports cars and luxury saloons ever seen on the world's roads.

Jaguar expert Nigel Thorley reviews everything from the first pre-war SS to the fascinating post-war XKs, the remarkable Mark 2 and Mark X luxury saloons and the magnificent E-Type, to today's F-Type sports cars, F-Pace SUVs and X-Type saloons. Eighty years of Jaguar history are covered here.

Jaguar - Panorama illustré des modèles

William Lyons created the Jaguar brand in 1945. From the beginning, the brand was known for its beautiful, high-performance cars at a lower price than the competition. Success was immediate, particularly with the legendary SS One.
The name Jaguar was initially only that of a model, the Jaguar SS 100. The number 100 evoked its 100 miles per hour top speed, an exploit at the time.

After the war, the name Jaguar was adopted as a brand, the initials SS having become inaudible. The roadsters, the Jaguar XK 120 140 and 150 coupes and the MK saloons brought Jaguar into the club of major manufacturers.
The C-Type and D-Type competition versions brought numerous victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The famous and magnificent E-Type, considered the most beautiful car of all time, propelled Jaguar to the top.

Jaguar, une sportive à l'anglaise - Tous les modèles de sport de la SS1 à la F-TYPE

Immerse yourself in the incomparable world of class and refinement that characterises this exceptional brand.
Like Bentley before it, Jaguar has forged a sporting legend by scoring numerous competition victories, particularly at the 24 Hours of Le Mans where it won the event five times in the 1950s with its Type C and Type D models, before returning to victory in 1988 and 1990 with its XJR-9 and XJR-12.

Colin Salter, automotive historian and great specialist of the brand with the leaping feline, traces in these pages the main models that made Jaguar the archetype of the "British sports car", from the first SS1 of 1931 to the very recent F-Type 400 Sport, via the legendary XK 120 140 and 150, XJ 220 and the C-X75 concept car. Without forgetting, of course, the famous Type E described by Enzo Ferrari himself as "the most beautiful car of all time"!

Largely illustrated with period images, shots by professional photographers or documents from the Jaguar archives, this book will delight all fans of the English brand.

Jaguar, modèles d'exception

Of all the brands that embodied the spirit of the English sports car in the post-war period - Austin-Healey, Hillman, Lotus, MG, Morgan, Triumph - Jaguar is undoubtedly the one that has made entire generations dream the most.
Born under the sign of the first Standard Swallows at the beginning of the thirties, Jaguar was transformed from the 50s and 60s to offer roadsters, coupes and convertibles whose feline lines and sporty performance definitively sealed the brand's reputation for excellence.

The fame of the XK 120 140 and 150 models would make Jaguar successful in the United States, the leading automobile market at the time, leading in 1961 to the legendary Type E, a true icon of the swinging sixties. Thanks to its impressive track record in competition, notably at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jaguar has never lost this sporting connotation, even if its name also evokes a whole line of high-end saloons with "so British" comfort such as the famous Mk2 or the XJ series which marked the 70s and 80s.

Under the guidance of Paul Walton, editor of Jaguar World magazine, automotive historian Colin Salter brings together the brand's 30 most iconic models in this book, from the SS1 of 1931 to the all-new XKSS which will be released next year at the Geneva Motor Show.
He has been able to assemble an exceptional iconography to present each model by calling on specialist photographers and obtaining preview documents directly from the brand.
He invites us to delve into the incomparable world of class and refinement which characterises this exceptional brand.
