NASA Hubble Space Telescope Manual (1990 onwards) - An insight into the history, development, collaboration, construction and role (Haynes Space Manual)

The Hubble Space Telescope (HST), which celebrated 25 years of successful operation in April 2015, is an international venture primarily between the USA and Europe. More than any other space project, Hubble has encouraged an expanding interest in popular astronomy. With stunning views of the cosmos, it has inspired a new generation of enthusiasts to study the night sky through simple telescopes or in books. As such it has linked space technology with popular interest in astronomy and has thrilled specialists and the lay public alike.

This fascinating manual, illustrated with a wealth of technical illustrations and stunning imagery taken from Hubble itself, takes in in-depth look at the origins of the HST, its design, development, manufacture and assembly, how it operates, and what it has accomplished, as well as the unique 'man-tended' design philosophy for launch and servicing using the Shuttle.

NASA Voyager 1 & 2 Manual (1977 onwards) - An insight into the history, technology, mission planning and operation (Haynes Space Manual)

In 1977, NASA sent two probes - Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 - to study the planets in Earth's outer solar system including Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Each probe carried a range of scientific instruments, sending data back to Earth.

The programme's primary mission was completed in 1989, with a close fly-by of Neptune by Voyager 2. Humanity has recently reached an important milestone, as Voyager 1 officially crossed the border where our solar system ends, and is heading into the depths of outer space.
Voyager 2 will soon follow, and as the craft continue their epic journeys, their discoveries will be transmitted to Earth until their power reserves are exhausted, around 2025. The probes will then become ambassadors from Earth - carrying sites and sounds of human culture into the cosmos.

This manual provides a fascinating insight into the Voyager programme, illustrated with a wealth of photographs and technical illustrations, and presents a guide to the golden discs attached to each probe - explaining how these time capsules of human culture were created, and how an alien race might one day decode them, to read their secrets from Earth.

Mars Manual - An insight into the study and exploration of the Red Planet (Haynes Space Manual)

This manual takes a look at what we know about the 'red planet' that has fascinated man for centuries, and presents the next major challenge in the exploration of our solar system.
Currently, NASA is developing the SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion module, the goal of sending a manned mission to Mars in the future.

Raumsonden - seit 1958 (Typenkompass)

Space probes are the spearhead of space research and are technically highly complex spacecraft. Since the beginning of space travel, a large number of different probes have been launched into space, of which Voyager 2 is certainly the most famous and successful: launched in 1977, the probe has visited Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
It has now left the solar system and is in deep space. To this day - more than 40 years after its launch - it is still sending data back to distant Earth.

This volume describes the highly fascinating subject of space probes. All the data, all the facts at a glance!
