French Traction

Debido a su extensión, Francia alberga una enorme cantidad de locomotoras. El país se divide prácticamente en dos: la mitad norte funciona con corriente alterna (CA) y la mitad sur con corriente continua (CC). Un gran número de locomotoras son bimotores, lo que les permite circular por todo el territorio nacional.

Aunque se pueden encontrar locomotoras en servicios de pasajeros, se dedican principalmente al transporte de mercancías. La principal operadora, la SNCF, gestiona la mayoría, si no la totalidad, de los servicios dentro de Francia. El número de servicios de pasajeros con locomotoras está disminuyendo, pero aún se pueden encontrar locomotoras diésel y eléctricas.
