Eisenbahnen in Westfalen - Von den Anfängen bis zur Gegenwart
Altrote Zeiten im Münsterland - Westfälische Eisenbahn-Impressionen 1967-1987
The sixties, seventies and eighties were a truly colourful era for the railways between Lippe, the Lower Rhine and the Teutoburg Forest. In addition to the "old red" of the diesel vehicles and battery-powered railcars, the black of the steam locomotives could still be found, and the modern traction was in blue, green or burgundy-beige. On routes that have long since been closed, old or very modern-looking DB and private railway railcars still hummed and buzzed.
This book brings the years between 1967 and 1987 to life again. Around 130 color photographs show locomotives, railcars, routes and railway scenes that were quite commonplace at the time. To today's viewer, they seem like friendly greetings from a distant time.

Eisenbahnchronik Weserbergland - Die Geschichte der Eisenbahnen an der Oberweser
The railway history of the Weserbergland is both exciting and complicated. The territorial fragmentation in this area and the difficult topographical conditions did not offer good conditions for the construction of railways, but the desire of the large West German railway companies for supra-regional east-west connections resulted in a dense network of main lines here.
The division of Germany caused some of the long-distance routes to quickly become insignificant after the strong east-west freight traffic had largely disappeared almost overnight. The numerous branch and small railways in this region also soon came under increasing pressure due to the growing car traffic. Today, rail traffic in the Weserbergland is almost insignificant except for the main line Hanover - Altenbeken.
The book recalls the great era of the railway on the Upper Weser, of scenic branch lines and small railways and of the last steam locomotives that could be seen pulling heavy freight trains here until 1976.
