Questo libro ripercorre la storia delle locomotive elettriche CC 6500, fiore all'occhiello della SNCF negli anni 1970. Con 74 esemplari, hanno trainato treni prestigiosi come il TEE Mistral, il Capitole e l'Aquitaine, assicurando al contempo il trasporto di pesanti convogli merci sulle pendici della Maurienne.
Esploreremo poi le loro cugine slovene SZ 363 "Brižita", le E900 marocchine, così come le 94 BBB 8000 in Corea del Sud. Saranno messe in luce anche le eleganti CC 21000, che hanno trainato il TEE Cisalpin tra Parigi e Vallorbe, e la CC 21003, temporaneamente utilizzata da Amtrak con il nome X996.

Studieremo poi le CC 40100, le prime locomotive a "naso rotto", che hanno assicurato la trazione di treni internazionali tra Francia, Belgio, Paesi Bassi e Germania.
Affronteremo anche le potenti locomotive diesel-elettriche CC 72000, celebri per il TEE Jules Verne e l'Arbalète, oltre alla loro versione modernizzata, le CC 72100. Infine, scopriremo la carriera delle serie 1900 e 1930 portoghesi, alcune delle quali sono state inviate in Argentina all'inizio degli anni 2000.
