La bataille du Jutland fut la plus grande bataille navale et le seul affrontement naval d'envergure de la Première Guerre mondiale. Pendant des années, les multiples facteurs ayant contribué à la perte de nombreux navires restèrent un mystère, alimentant uniquement les spéculations et les théories.

Dans cet ouvrage, l'archéologue et historien maritime Dr Innes McCartney révèle pour la première fois ce qu'il est advenu des navires de guerre disparus dans la nuit du 31 mai 1916, en examinant les circonstances de la disparition de chaque navire et en conciliant les connaissances de 1916 avec les découvertes archéologiques actuelles.

Q Ship vs U-Boat - 1914-18 (Osprey)

Le capitaine du navire Q restait à bord avec quelques autres membres d'équipage pour servir les canons, qui demeuraient dissimulés jusqu'au moment le plus opportun pour se dévoiler et engager le sous-marin.

Le concept de navire Q avait émergé au début de la guerre, alors qu'aucune autre méthode ne semblait susceptible de contrer la menace des U-Boote, et il a prospéré jusqu'à ce que de nouvelles technologies et tactiques soient développées, testées et mises en œuvre.
