Met de GVA-bus onderweg

Bent u een voormalige passagier van het GVA en heeft u herinneringen aan uw reizen naar het werk, sportevenementen, zwembadbezoeken, of schoolreisjes? Wellicht was u zelfs chauffeur of vervulde u een andere rol binnen het bedrijf. In dat geval zal dit boek met nostalgische momenten u aanspreken.

Peter van der Meer, van jongs af aan bekend met het GVA door busreizen vanuit Huissen naar Arnhem, ontwikkelde al vroeg een fascinatie voor de diverse busmodellen. Zijn fotografische interesse begon pas in 1982, maar zijn affiniteit met het GVA is altijd gebleven.

Geïnspireerd door contacten met mede-hobbyisten besloot hij jaren later een fotoboek over GVA-bussen samen te stellen.
Dit boek, mogelijk gemaakt dankzij de medewerking van andere hobbyisten, omvat enkele foto's van voor de Tweede Wereldoorlog, maar legt vooral de nadruk op de periode daarna tot heden. Ontdek ook afbeeldingen van museumbussen die het verleden levend houden.

Met de GVB-bus onderweg

Have you ever ridden on a GVB bus in the past? To work, with the football club, to the swimming pool or on a school trip? Or were you a driver on these buses yourself or did you do other work for this company? Then this book full of memories will certainly appeal to you.

In his younger years, the Amsterdam native Wim Vink came into contact with the GVB at an early age, through the bus rides from the Haarlemmermeer station, where both his grandparents lived nearby, to the parental home in the Kolenkitbuurt in Bos en Lommer.
He discovered early on that the GVB buses (and also the trams) had numbers and that these were arranged in logical series. In his teenage years in the sixties, he also started taking photographs.

Now, many years later, he reviewed his collection and got the idea to compile a photo book about the GVB buses, as a follow-up to previous publications about other bus companies. Together with Frank van den Boogert and Jan van der Stelt and certainly also thanks to the willingness of fellow hobbyists, this book was created.
It contains a limited number of photos from the period before the Second World War, because the emphasis is on the period after that, up to and including 2020. Subsequently, some photos are included of former GVB buses at companies to which they were later sold. And you will also find photos of buses that have been preserved and now keep the past alive as museum buses.
