This "Verzeichnis Deutscher Lokomotiven and Triebwagen" offers a comprehensive overview of the inventory of German vehicle types, which is difficult even for specialists to keep track of and is not presented in this form in the existing literature.

After the legendary first work "Maey/Born" in the 1920s and the long out of print "List of German Locomotives 1923-1963", this is the first complete list. It begins with the renumbering of the state railway locomotives in 1925 and extends for the first time to the system of computer numbers of DB and DR up to 1970.

The renowned railway historian Andreas Knipping presents for the first time an overall assessment of the historical German numbering system, which was created for the steam locomotive and had to make way for a vehicle fleet dominated by electric and diesel vehicles.
In addition to an overview of all locomotive numbers assigned by DRB, DB and DR, the book contains comprehensive data, facts and over 300 photographic vehicle portraits.
