Two-Stroke Motorcycle Engine Maintenance and Repair
This book analyses the technology of spark ignition two-stroke engines. The presentation is simple and comprehensive. The description of the operating cycle, the fluid dynamics, the lubrication and the cooling systems is followed by painstaking analysis of the mechanical organs, with the materials and the manufacturing processes employed to produce them.
The book is completed by an overview of the history and evolution of these engines and by an examination of the principal types and the diverse fields in which they are employed. The second edition of this work, currently the only one of its kind, has been expanded with an in-depth analysis of the ignition and combustion phases and the formation of the air-fuel mixture, with particular attention paid to the most recent injection systems.

The Book of 1930's British Motorcycle Engines (Overhaul & Maintenance)
Floyd Clymer book for maintenance and repair of motorcycle engines from the 1920s and 30s. Contains technical information on A.J.S., Ariel, B.S.A., Calthorpe, Douglas, J.A.P., Levis, Matchless, New Hudson, New Imperial, Norton, Panther, Raleigh, Royal Enfield, Rudge, Scott, Sunbeam, Triumph and Velocette engines.
Attention! As this information was extracted from the various manufacturers service documentation the amount of detail varies considerably. For example, the data on Calthorpe and New Imperial engines are only 4 pages each in length and would be considered to be adjustment and maintenance information only. Conversely, the data on the Scott engine is 15 pages in length and the overhaul process is explained in detail.

Der schnellaufende Zweitaktmotor - Eine Einführung in die technischen Grundlagen
The Scotsman Dugald Clerk once managed to circumvent Nikolaus Otto's patent with his development of the two-stroke engine. Later, the German motorcycle and automobile manufacturer DKW successfully installed the two-stroke engine in its two- and four-wheeled vehicles. However, its popularity, especially in cars, eventually petered out due to its penetrating exhaust smell, high oil consumption and emissions problems, among other things. Nevertheless, two-stroke engines are still installed today, in addition to two-wheeled vehicles, in chainsaws and outboard motors, for example.
This classic of engine literature, the standard work by H.W. Bönsch, explains comprehensively and in detail how the two-stroke engine works. The technical basics are shown in detail here for beginners and experts alike.
