Ducati Bevel Twins 1971 to 1986 : Authenticity & restoration guide

Production of Ducati Bevel Twins spanned 15 years, and nowadays a restored bike with original parts will be worth about double the value of one with the wrong parts/detailing.

There have been so many variations over the years that most people have no idea what is correct for a particular model. A would-be buyer's first question is always "how authentic is the bike?", not whether it is beautifully restored.
So this book is a comprehensive guide to authenticity. The content includes colour codes, stripe widths, decal placement, etc. The practical chapters are by necessity broad.

For instance, there were five fork types, more than five shock absorber types (many not rebuildable), more than five brake types and ten different frame types. These practical chapters cover little tricks in assembly and offer general advice rather than a detailed workshop manual-type description.

Das Ducati Schrauberhandbuch - Die Königswellen V-Twins (1971-1986)

Restoring Italian motorcycles has always been difficult, and restoring a bevel gear Ducati is one of the biggest challenges. Numerous changes in the company's management over the years, irregular factory records and many different suppliers make research and the search for manufacturing details and model variants a time-consuming task.

After all, thanks to the Internet and auction platforms such as eBay, obtaining spare parts is now much easier than it was 10 years ago. But which parts were used in which year of manufacture? Which modifications were introduced into series production and when? What should be taken into account when restoring these Italian two-wheeled classics?

Ducati expert Ian Falloon answers all these and many other questions in this mechanic's manual. He not only sheds light on the historical background of the classic 750 860 900 and 1000 models from 1971 to 1986, he also shows the changes to these motorcycle types broken down by frame number in detail. This includes the corresponding color codes as well as the design and placement of the various lettering.

Detailed chapters on the topics of chassis and electrics (including circuit diagrams) as well as a practical description of engine restoration and wear values ??and spare parts lists complete this useful guide for all owners and restorers of a bevel Ducati.
