This book describes the development of the railway network in the area of today's Free State of Bavaria. Starting with the first projects, with the Ludwigsbahn and other former private railways, the transition to the state railway system is explained, followed by the history of the Eastern Railways, the local, secondary and local railways. Tabular overviews summarize the route data.
The book does not end with the dissolution of the Bavarian State Railway in 1920, but also reports on the most important events of the Reichsbahn era and the Bundesbahn up to the present day.
