The InterCity-Express (ICE) has been a symbol of pride for Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) for three decades. Carrying more than 250, 000 passengers daily at a maximum speed of 300 km/h, these fast trains play a key role. Some of them run along the LGV Est Européenne, connecting Paris to Strasbourg, welcoming French passengers.

The history of the ICE has its roots in 1985 with the IC-Experimental, which then evolved into the ICE 1 (series 401) in 1991, which is still in service. In 1993, the ICE 2 (402 series) allowed the use of double trains for Y-shaped services. Following this line, the ICE 3, capable of reaching 300 km/h, was born to serve the new high-speed line between Frankfurt and Cologne.
The 412 series, the latest addition to the ICE family, currently runs with the ICE 4, while the future ICE 3 neo (408 series) is in the test phase with a view to taking over.

The InterCity-Express is the pride of Deutsche Bahn AG. Its success story began in 1985 with the first test runs of the ICE Experimental. This vehicle was developed into the ICE-1 (series 401), which was in use from 1990 with the opening of the new Hanover-Würzburg line.
