Rundnasen und Kartoffelkäfer - Die NoHAB-Europalokomotiven

Le locomotive diesel conosciute come "Rundnase", "Dicknase" o "Kartoffelkäfer" hanno raggiunto lo status di culto. A partire dal 1954, 159 locomotive di questo tipo furono costruite su licenza EMD presso la NoHAB di Trollhättan (Svezia) per Norvegia, Danimarca e Ungheria. Inoltre, la AFB produsse 40 locomotive per il Belgio e quattro per il Lussemburgo. Il progetto si basa sulle serie F e B americane, ma fu adattato alle esigenze europee.

Le ultime operazioni regolari si conclusero nel 2000/2001 in Ungheria, Norvegia e Danimarca. In Belgio furono ritirate dal servizio qualche anno prima, in Lussemburgo nel 1994. Tuttavia, molte di queste robuste locomotive sono ancora in servizio presso ferrovie private, principalmente in Danimarca, Svezia e Germania.

La prima parte del libro illustrato ripercorre gli ultimi anni di servizio presso le ferrovie statali. La seconda parte si concentra sulle locomotive ancora attive oggi, con particolare attenzione alla Germania.

Die V 160-Familie (Band 3) - Die Baureihe 218

The diesel locomotives of the 218 series represent the technical high point of the extremely successful V 160 family of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Even after a good four decades of use, the 218 is still indispensable at DB AG today, even though its ranks have thinned considerably in recent years.

Although the use of the 218 at DB Regio is declining sharply, numerous machines have found new tasks in other areas, including as ICE towing locomotives at DB Fernverkehr, in the Sylt shuttle service of DB AutoZug, in the nationwide construction train service and much more.
The use of the 218 is therefore extremely varied today. A number of these machines have now found a new home with private railways or are even being preserved as museum locomotives.

Die V 160-Familie (Band 2) - Die Baureihen 210, 215, 217, 218.0 und 219

Volume 1 comprehensively presents the technical development of the V 160 prototypes and their further development into the series locomotives.
Shortly after the commissioning of the V 160 series, further offshoots of the V 160 series family were created.

Volume 2 of the three-volume work provides a comprehensive overview of the 215/225, V 162/217, and V 169/219 locomotive series in the established format. Particular attention is paid to the reasons for the further development of the V 160, the technology, and the deployment of these locomotives.
Numerous photos, some in color, show the vehicles in use by DB, private railways and abroad.

This volume also begins with an introduction to the 210 series, which became the 218 series after the removal of the gas turbine.

Diesellokomotiven der Deutschen Bundesbahn

The young German Bundesbahn initially had only a few diesel locomotives at its disposal, in addition to small locomotives, mainly vehicles from Wehrmacht stocks such as the V 20, V 36 and V 188.
With the first V 80 and V 200, sensational new paths were taken, before diesel locomotive production began in large numbers with the V 60 (1955) and V 100 (1958).
At the end of the development at the Bundesbahn were the numerous members of the V 160 family.
