ICE, l'histoire du train allemand

L'InterCity-Express (ICE) demeure un symbole de fierté pour la Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) depuis trois décennies. Transportant quotidiennement plus de 250 000 passagers à une vitesse maximale de 300 km/h, ces trains rapides jouent un rôle clé. Certains d'entre eux arpentent la LGV Est européenne, reliant Paris à Strasbourg, accueillant ainsi des voyageurs français.

L'histoire de l'ICE prend ses racines en 1985 avec l'IC-Experimental, évoluant ensuite vers l'ICE 1 (série 401) en 1991, toujours en service. En 1993, l'ICE 2 (série 402) permet l'utilisation de rames doubles pour des dessertes en Y. Suivant cette lignée, l'ICE 3, capable d'atteindre 300 km/h, voit le jour pour desservir la nouvelle ligne à grande vitesse entre Francfort et Cologne.
La série 412, le dernier ajout à la famille des ICE, circule actuellement avec l'ICE 4, tandis que le futur ICE 3 neo (série 408) est en phase de test en vue de prendre la relève.

Marc Dahlbeck relate l'évolution technologique remarquable de ces trente dernières années, détaillant les diverses générations d'ICE, toujours plus performantes. L'ouvrage offre un panorama complet des aspects techniques et de l'histoire des différentes rames ICE.

Peter Wagner and Wolfgang Theurich have been known for many years for their publications on passenger carriages in the German Carriage Archive.

Each type is presented with a photo, a historical description and technical data.

This Typenkompass provides a detailed overview of all DB Regio AG's seating cars in use. As is usual in the book series, the author describes the origins and special features of each vehicle. Each vehicle description is accompanied by a table with the most important technical data.

Deutsche Bahn's electric commuter trains may not break records or offer the luxury of ICE trains, but they play an undeniably central role in German rail transport. As the main players, they transport by far the most passengers and are thus essential to the viability of German cities.
This book is dedicated to recognizing these trains by tracing their development from history and describing their modern technology in detail.

The variety of trains used by DB is covered in detail, including the 422-426 series, the FLIRT from Stadler, the Alstom train CORADIA Continental and the new TALENT 2 from Bombardier. In addition, comparable trains from private railway companies and from neighboring countries are briefly presented.

The book presents all trains in new, high-quality illustrations and offers insights into otherwise hidden details through drawings. This work was created in close cooperation between the author Dr. Karl Gerhard Baur and the German rail vehicle industry.

ICE - Geschichte, Technik, Einsatz

The InterCity-Express is the pride of Deutsche Bahn AG. Its success story began in 1985 with the first test runs of the ICE Experimental. This vehicle was developed into the ICE-1 (series 401), which was in use from 1990 with the opening of the new Hanover-Würzburg line.
The ICE family quickly grew to include the ICE-2 and the ICE-3, which travels to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam daily at speeds of over 300 km/h. The ICE-4 is now the youngest member of the family in use, and the family will continue to grow with the ICE-3neo.
