The commissioning of the North-South line of the Amsterdam metro has far-reaching consequences for many Amsterdam tram and bus lines; many familiar lines are being closed or relocated. These changes are the reason for the publication of a new series of books. A series of four books will focus in words and images on all nineteen tram lines that have been visible in Amsterdam over the past forty years. All lines are covered from start to finish and back. This part covers the Damrak lines (lines 4, 9, 16, 24 and 25).
This second part of the series on Amsterdam tram lines in the period 1975-2018 focuses on the tram lines that ran and run on the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal, namely lines 1, 2, 5, 11, 13 and 17. As was the case with the tram lines in the first part, the Nieuwezijds lines are also covered in their entirety, in both colour and black and white.
Amsterdamse tramlijnen 1975-2018 (deel 3) - De Ringlijnen
The third part of the series "Amsterdamse tramlijnen 1975-2018" focuses on the tram lines that ran over (part of) a ring road, namely lines 3, 6, 7, 10, 12, 14 and 20. It is striking that several of these changed their route and terminus quite a few times during the reporting period. Many changes are discussed in this part in words and pictures.
As known from parts 1 and 2, the lines are again illuminated in their entirety. Hopefully, this part will again prove to be a joy of recognition for many and form an adequate representation of the collective memory with regard to the Amsterdam tram during the past forty years.

Amsterdamse tramlijnen 1975-2018 (deel 3) - De Ringlijnen
In the fourth part of "Amsterdamse tramlijnen 1975-2018" the bus is also briefly discussed. And then both the city bus and the intercity bus. The consequences of the commissioning of the new metro connection for passengers and bus personnel are particularly great for the bus lines north of the city.
Whatever one's opinion of the North-South Line, it is no exaggeration to say that after the introduction of the horse-drawn tram in 1875 and the electric tram in 1900, the commissioning of the new metro line, given the changes in the network, was an event of historical significance for Amsterdam's public transport.
