Tigers at the Front - A Photo Study
Tiger ! - the very name that Allied troops feared. It came to symbolize the superiority of German tank design. This book has been created as a photo essay showing the best available and rare photographs of Tigers with units at the front.
No tank that the Allies fielded in World War II was comparable to this combination of the 88mm gun with massive armor protection. Allied tankers didn't think that they stood a chance of defeating these formidable Tigers. They only hoped that these heavy tanks would breakdown, become immobilized in soft ground, or be damaged by lucky hits on vulnerable points.
Tiger Tanks at War - Combat history, archival photography, technical specifications and illustrations
The first prototype for the Tiger tank was set to be ready for Hitlers birthday on April 20, 1942. The Henschel Company, competing with Porsche, produced the superior model, and by August of that year the formidable Tiger - or Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. H. - was in full production.
This book takes us behind the scenes with the Tiger tank, reviewing the full history, the design and mechanics, and the mixed record of this machine, which was designed to outgun its Russian counterparts. Military writer Michael Green offers a close-up account - accompanied by photographs, diagrams, and maps - of how the Tiger tank operated, how it was armed, and where it succeeded brilliantly, as well as where it failed miserably. His book fills a fascinating niche in the history of military technology, and of the impact of technology on history itself.

Tiger I and Tiger II Tanks - German Army and Waffen-SS : Eastern Front 1944 (Tank Craft)
In spite of the relatively small numbers produced, the Tiger I and Tiger II tanks are arguably the most famous armoured fighting vehicles of the Second World War. This book, the first in the TankCraft series, uses archive photos and extensively researched colour illustrations to examine the tanks and units of the German Army and Waffen-SS heavy panzer battalions that attempted to hold back the Red Army during 1944.
A large part of the book showcases available model kits and aftermarket products, complemented by a gallery of beautifully constructed and painted models in various scales. Technical details as well as modifications introduced during production and in the field are also examined providing everything the modeller needs to recreate an accurate representation of the tanks that fought from the snow covered fields of Byelorussia and the Ukraine, through the Baltic States and into Poland and Hungary.

Tiger I and Tiger II Tanks - German Army and Waffen-SS : Eastern Front 1944
The German Tiger heavy tank was a monster of a machine that dominated the battlefields of Europe. One of the most feared weapons of World War II, the Tiger gained an aura of invincibility that was only shattered by the introduction of the Sherman Firefly during the summer of 1944. Designed by the British to combat the Tiger, the Sherman Firefly was based on the American M4A4 Sherman, but was fitted with a powerful 17-pounder gun which made it a deadly opponent.
This book describes the design and development of these two opponents, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses, assessing their tactics, weaponry and training. Gunsight artwork puts the reader 'inside' the tanks during famous battle scenarios, in a victory of superior Allied numbers, tactics and engineering.
Volume 1 of 'Der Tiger' introduces the s.Pz.Abt.501, which saw combat in Tunisia, Russia, Poland and Germany. The tanks and crews are shown in the field, under maintenance, and after action. Arranged by timeline, place and sequence, images taken by photographers of the Propaganda companies and private photographs by members of the Abteilung, show its: - formation in May 1942 - deployment to Tunisia (North Africa) at the end of November 1942 - reestablishment in September/October 1943 - despatched to the Eastern Front in December 1943 - revitalisation and re-equipment with Tiger II - move to Poland in August 44 and the Reich.
This book documents the Tiger I with more than 150 unique photographs mainly in large format from official and private collections and 1/35 plans of a unit-made crane, all backed up with with detailed captions and additional documents. 128 pages, hardcover, landscape format, dual English and German text; full of the latest findings. An unmissable source for modellers and information for historians.
This series shows the Tigers and associated vehicles of s.Pz.Abt.501 to 510 in separate volumes with photographs laid out chronologically and accompanied by specific information about each Abteilung.
