Quieter, Deeper, Faster - Innovations in German Submarine Construction

Today, German submarine technologies count among the leaders in the world. The Germans were not the first to have introduced submarines into their navy, but it wasn't long before the most technically demanding boats were being designed and built in German shipyards - a pursuit which has always involved ground breaking innovations and continues to this day.

This book is dedicated to the innovative power of Germany in this field: from the vision of the submarine boom, which has long been ridiculed as a technical curiosity, to first dive boats around the turn of the century, up to the start of the construction of the first operational German submarines at Krupp Germaniawerft and the modern fuel cell submarine classes HDW 212A and HDW 214 of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems. But also, the submarine technologies of tomorrow or the HDW classes 210mod and 216, which so far only exist on paper, can be found in the extraordinary compilation.

In addition to explaining the different application profiles of current boats, the work also contains a list of all submarines built in Germany since 1945.

The 172-page documentation is completed by 130 illustrations - including numerous, impressive photographs by the internationally renowned sea photographer Peter Neumann. A new standard work that should certainly not be missing in any submarine book collection.
