Lokporträt Baureihe 62

The second "standardization plan" of the still young German Reichsbahn included, among other things, the construction of a 2'C2' passenger train tank locomotive of the 62 series with the type designation Pt 37.20. It was to be able to haul express and passenger trains on short routes where the use of tender locomotives was uneconomical.
Henschel in Kassel built a total of 15 of these extremely elegant locomotives in 1928, most of which the Reichsbahn only accepted later and used in the Wuppertal (Düsseldorf depot), Stettin (Sassnitz depot) and Erfurt (Meiningen depot) directorates.

The seven locomotives that remained with the later German Bundesbahn after the end of the war were decommissioned by 1956, while the eight DR machines were used in numerous railway depots until 1970.
Volume 41 in the "Eisenbahn-Bildarchiv" series shows numerous, and in some cases previously unknown, photos from all periods of use. Another chapter is devoted to the DR museum locomotive 62 015, which was operational from 1975 to 1996 and was used in front of countless special trains in many parts of Germany.

Die Baureihe 64 - Die erfolgreiche deutsche 1'C1-Einheitstenderlok für Nebenbahnen

The standard steam locomotive class 64 was a successful and widely built tender locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, which reliably served all over Germany for four decades up until the 1970s, especially on passenger trains.

The book describes the development, construction and history as well as the use of this popular and ubiquitous 1'C1' series in the Reichsbahn era, during the post-war period in East and West Germany and also in other countries.
In this updated new edition, equipped with numerous high-quality illustrations, the EK series book pays tribute to the well-known series 64 in a comprehensive portrait.

Die Baureihe 92 - Die Rangierlokomotiven der deutschen Länderbahnbauarten

This EK Baureihe-series book presents for the first time in detail the four-coupled tender locomotives of the former state railways, which were classified as "Series 92" in the renumbering plans of the Reichsbahn from 1925/1926.
The volume includes the series 92.0 and 92.1 (Württemberg T4 and T6), 92.2-3 (Baden Xb), 92.4 and 92.5-11 (Prussian T131 and T13) and the 92.20 (Bavarian/Palatinate R4/4).

Locomotives from KOE, LBE, BLE, LAG and some splinter types that were added later are also mentioned. The already well-documented locomotives from other countries occupied by the "Third Reich" and the machines nationalized in the GDR are not covered.

The "92s" proved their worth in state railway service and on private and industrial railways until the 1960s. EK author Hans-Jürgen Wenzel pays tribute to them in words and pictures by creating a monument to these locomotives in the usual depth of this book series.

Die Baureihe 94 - Die preußischen Tenderloks T 16 und T 16.1

The Prussian freight train tank locomotives of the T 16 and T 16.1 types are among the most important and best known. Between 1905 and 1924, over 1, 500 examples of these five-coupled locomotives were built.
These powerful and reliable machines proved their worth in freight trains, in heavy shunting service and gained recognition as steep-slope locomotives.
They were present throughout Germany and remained in regular service until the 1970s. The German Reichsbahn took them over as series 94.2-4 and 94.5-17.

This completely revised edition of the EK Baureihe-series classic by Hans-Jürgen Wenzel offers a standard work on this popular series. In addition to the Prussian 94, its relatives and predecessors in steep-slope service are also honored.
Over 650 photographs and facsimiles from the more than 50-year history of use, from locomotives that remained abroad to the preserved examples, illustrate the history of these powerful Prussian locomotives.

Lokporträt Baureihe 94.19 und 94.20-21

Between 1908 and 1923, the Sächsische Staatsbahn purchased five-coupled two-cylinder superheated steam tender locomotives of the XI HT class from Hartmann in Chemnitz. After the founding of the German Reichsbahn, they were classified as series 94.20-21 (16 Mp axle load) and series 94.19 (15 Mp axle load).

Of the 163 locomotives delivered, 147 went to the DRG, despite war losses and surrenders to the victorious powers. The XI HT was used in a variety of ways in the dense Saxon rail network, both on main lines and on branch lines for freight stations and local freight train services.
Decommissioning began in the 1960s and was largely completed by 1970, apart from the locomotives used on the Eibenstock steep ramp until 1975.

This volume of the "Eisenbahn-Bildarchiv" series uses selected photographs to pay tribute to the almost 70 years of service of these distinctive Saxon freight train tender locomotives and to commemorate many routes that no longer exist today.
