Panzer der NVA
Until their integration into the German armed forces, the land forces of the National People's Army (NVA), founded in 1956, were equipped with wheeled and tracked vehicles. These armored vehicles are described in detail here by Jörg Siegert. The book contains all the data and facts worth knowing about this fascinating piece of equipment.
The main battle tanks T 34/76, T 34/85, IS II, PT 76, T 54, T 55, T 72 and their versions as well as combat and reconnaissance infantry fighting vehicles, command staff vehicles and other vehicles that were part of the East German armored troops in the areas of communications, command and engineering technology are presented in detail.
Even though the large battle tanks usually receive the most public attention, an armored force consists of many more types of tanks, whose areas of responsibility differ greatly from one another, which is why they are also very specialized in terms of design and areas of use. This was also the case in the National People's Army of the GDR.
In this book, Jörg Siegert describes in words and pictures the armoured wheeled tanks and special vehicles of the military transport, the intelligence and engineering troops, the motor vehicle service and the military construction, as they were in service with the NVA until 1989.

The Cold War knew no limits: for every new weapon, for every new system, the other side responded with even more sophisticated weapons systems. Both the German army and the NVA received the corresponding equipment from their respective "Big Brothers".
Jörg Siegert, an expert on GDR military vehicles, devotes this volume to the NVA's tube and rocket weapons, which are comprehensively presented and portrayed in the tried and tested manner. In addition to the actual weapon carriers, the numerous command and support vehicles are also presented.
