Mr. Churchill's Tank - The British Infantry Tank Mark IV

This is the full story of the Churchill tank; from the design of an oversized prototype in Belfast in 1940 to its final achievements against Communist forces in the Korean War some ten years later.
For those with an interest in technical matters this book goes into a great deal of detail. For those interested in the mechanics and politics of war production it explains the systems, processes and pitfalls in depth. For those studying war history it examines the Churchill tank in action from the beaches of Dieppe to the mountains of Tunisia; from the Gothic Line in Italy to the Siegfried Line in Germany and in the harsh terrain of Korea.

The Churchill is examined mark by mark, from the A20 prototype through to the heavyweight Black Prince design of 1944. Details are given of its service with every British regiment that operated Churchills and of its use by Australian, Canadian, Irish and Russian forces. The author has drawn heavily on original research material held in the library of the Tank Museum at Bovington in Dorset, UK.

Churchill Infantry Tank 1941-51

The Churchill was undoubtedly one of the most successful British tanks of the Second World War. Although it suffered from being underarmed, a defect common to most British armoured vehicles of the period, it was nevertheless loved by its crews: its cross-country ability was unrivalled and it was less inclined to 'brew-up' from a direct hit than the Sherman. It was also adaptable. Modified Churchills played a crucial part in the initial D-Day landings and in the subsequent advance through France.
Bryan Perrett traces the life of this slow-moving but effective and respected tank from its initial inception through till its eventual obsolescence.

Contents: Development - Operational History - Organization and Tactics - Operation Jubilee - Africa - Italy - North-West Europe - Burma and Korea - Variants.

Churchill (Volume 1)

The first of three volumes describing the British infantry tank. Production of the Churchill began in 1941 with the development of the A20 tank by Harland & Wolff. As the war progressed the A20 was adapted and improved by Vauxhall and became the A22.

The Churchill, known for its heavy armour and versatility on the battlefield, was named after Winston Churchill who had spent time during World War I developing the tank. Churchill looks at the history, design and development of the tank and deals extensively with the special variants of the vehicle including flame throwers, combat engineers'versions, engineering and recovery vehicles. Included are plans and CAD illustrations of the Mk.I/II and III gun tanks.

The book also includes an array of detailed images from 3D graphics to photographs and drawings. This is a comprehensive and valuable book for the modeller and historian alike. The book includes an array of detailed images from 3D graphics to photo and drawings.

Full Polish text plus English captions.

The Gun Power series of books focuses on the armour, armoured vehicles and artillery. Every book contains a chapter about the design's history, drawings in modelling scales, colour plates presenting camouflaging schemes and a modelling chapter.

The part covering the design's development history is illustrated by a large number of photographs. The plans show different variants, all non-standard versions and modifications of the vehicles or guns in several views, and depict the details in the highest possible quality. Specifically for the modellers, the included colour profiles are printed in the same scale.
A separate, comprehensive modelling chapter goes through the models and accessories sets available.

Churchill Tanks : British Army, Normandy Campaign 1944

Designed as a heavily armoured tank which could accompany infantry formations, the Churchill's ability to cross rough ground and climb seemingly unassailable hills became legendary. The tank first saw action in 1942 and the basic design was constantly re-worked and upgunned, culminating in the Mark VII version which was capable of taking on the heaviest German tanks.

In his fourth book in the TankCraft series, Dennis Oliver uses archive photographs and thoroughly researched, vividly presented colour profiles to tell the story of these iconic British tanks.
As readers have come to expect from the TankCraft series, the large full colour section of this book features available model kits and accessories as well as aftermarket products.

In addition to the colour profiles there is a gallery of expertly constructed and painted models. A separate section explains technical details and production modifications giving the modeller all the information and knowledge required to recreate an authentic reproduction of one of the tanks that contributed so much to the British effort in the battles for Normandy.
